Mosquitoes @ 23.08.2010
Hello again, just a suggestion for anyone coming to pick. We have mosquitoes this year. In past years we haven't had that much of a problem. But with all the wet weather we have an abundance of the nasty critters. So I would suggest insect repellent for everyone. Counting down to opening day! Dianne

Fall Picking @ 15.08.2010
It's August 15 and we are finally getting a break from all the heat, humidity and scary storms. Bill had to do a lot of cleaning up after the tornado. We were able to replant the McIntosh trees that we had transplanted in the spring. The leaves are still green but no apples. We are holding out hope they will make it. But most of the other trees we replanted didn't make it. That being said we will still have plenty of apples for picking. We are planning on being open business on Labor Day, September 6. By then we should have McIntosh, cortlands and spartans for picking. Jonathans and Haralsons should be ready soon after that and our new empire trees have a good crop also. We will have some galas but about half of those trees are dying and we aren't sure why. It could be from the tornado but Bill thinks the moles are eating the roots. We have an abundance of the nasty critters. We won't have much for red delicious this year as the tornado took it's toll on those trees. There will be some though. Sad to say our sweet sixteen trees did not do well again this year and we have very few of those apples. We will probably be giving out samples of those again and hope for a better crop next year. We are looking forward to seeing all of our regulars again this fall and any new folks who find us. See you soon, Dianne and Bill
